Up for sale is this 1972 BMW 2002 tii in decent shape.  The car is currently located in San Juan, Puerto Rico in a covered parking lot.   It is silver on the exterior with a blue/black leather interior.  It has Recaro bucket seats recently reupholstered.  Every accessory and gauge in the car is in working order.  The Paint is in good shape, just minor superficial rust spots showing around the engine bay but otherwise presentable.  The car has little over 56,000 miles originally. It has been driven recently quite a while with no problems.  Recently upgraded ignition. New fuel pump.  There are very few details on the paint that have to be seen up close.  The car at the moment runs great and it's a definite head turner.  Original tii model.  Very rare. Engine runs very smooth.  Don't miss this opportunity to own a REAL and CLASSIC BMW.  One of just 4522 tii's produced between 1972 and 1973. The only detail the car has underneath, chassis wise, is a small(less than a square foot) metal patch welded to the floor.  A certified and long time BMW mechanic, as well as two qualified body shops, have inspected the car and found it in great condition for a 41 year old car with no major restoration.   I have more pictures of the car upon request.  Previous owner had the car for more than 20 years.  Included is a repair manual for BMW 1800/2002 cars.

2015 BMW X6

Mon, 13 Oct 2014

Most everyone would agree that BMW offers a range of very attractive and well-proportioned coupes, sedans, crossovers and wagons. Yet there is one member of its family that has always struck us as a bit odd: the X6.
Proudly coined "The world's first Sports Activity Coupe" by its German maker, the X6 features a wedge-shaped body with a characteristic sloping roofline that appears to squash the heads of its second-row occupants. The crossover rides high off the ground, with a pronounced gap between its chassis and oversized wheel/tire package, capped by short overhangs on both ends. Although curious to the eyes, its overall styling is masculine, and its stance aggressive.
Whether you consider the X6 to be attractive or an eyesore - opinions seem about equally divided - there is nobody at BMW questioning its business model. As of today, the automaker has sold more than 260,000 copies of its five-door crossover, which is why it has flown us to Spartanburg, SC, to sample its second-generation 2015 BMW X6.

Alpina B3 Bi-Turbo burns all the midnight oil

Wed, 11 Sep 2013

We've got good news and bad news for you, boys and girls, from the floor of the Frankfurt Motor Show. The good news is that the BMW M3 has come early, with a diesel, in wagon form - albeit with a different name. The bad news is that it will in all likelihood never make it to America. Which is a shame, because it's awesome.
What we're talking about, of course, is the new Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo. BMW's wickedly talented but lesser know stepchild has created a 3 Series with a 3.0-liter twin-turbo diesel six packing 345 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. You - and by "you," we mean overseas buyers - can choose between sedan or wagon, as well as rear- or all-wheel drive. But the bottom line is a 4.6-second 0-62 time and a 173-mph top speed... from a diesel.
We scoped out the rear-drive wagon Alpina brought to the show, decked out in its signature blue. And you can, too, in the gallery of live shots above, along with the freshly assembled stock photos of both sedan and wagon versions in the gallery below.

BMW considering North American engine plant?

Fri, 13 Dec 2013

BMW may be set to expand its US operations with a new engine plant, Bloomberg reports. The Bavarian automaker already has its Spartanburg, SC factory which builds the company's X3, X5 and X6 crossovers. According to the story, Mexico is also under consideration for the BMW engine factory, with the report claiming a final decision will be made in 2014.
"Establishing local motor manufacturing abroad is more complex than assembling cars, but it's a logical step for them to eventually start making engines in markets where they're expanding vehicle production," Juergen Pieper, an analyst for Bankhaus Metzler tells Bloomberg. Building engines in the US or Mexico would save BMW from having to ship engines for some of its most popular models across the Atlantic.
BMW, for its part, hasn't said anything concrete. Spokesman Mathias Schmidt is quoted in the story saying, "As part of our long-term growth strategy, we're frequently looking at different countries for possible locations of future production facilities. No decisions have been made yet, though, for an additional plant."
